Our Story
On the 19th of September, 1949, Senadhipathige Neville Greshan Stanley Rodrigo was born in the village of Mahunupitiya, in the Negombo area. He was the middle child in a family of four: sisters and one brother. In 1970, he began his career as a security officer at the National Paper Corporation. Despite facing severe financial difficulties in supporting his family of four children, he was determined to find a better way.
In 1980, he started his own business, bringing dry fish to Negombo. From the Kalpitiya area, where his relatives lived, and selling it at fairs and from home. His beloved wife, the late Mrs. Annie Grace Peiris, supported a small self-employed venture. Without her dedication, Rodrigo Suppliers would not have grown into the successful business it is today.
As the business flourished, he considered expanding into the supply chain industry. The experience he gained from selling goods proved invaluable. His strong social connections and reputation in society garnered him significant support.
One of his key relationships was with Dr. Siva Prakashan, the director of the Central Hospital. Who placed the first fish order for the hospital? At that time, Neville used a motorcycle to deliver.
Fish and separate bikes to buy beef in the Puttalam area. His business eventually expanded to include dry fish, fresh fish, fruits, vegetables, and a wide array of supplies. Through his exceptional social relations, he secured contracts to become a government supplier, providing for the armed forces, harbor, and parliament in Sri Lanka.
He laid the foundation for supplying these institutions effectively. Senadhipathige Neville Greshan Stanley Rodrigo passed away on May 11, 2021, after dedicating 35 years to his business. Today, Rodrigo Suppliers is co-owned by his two sons, Sudesh Priyankara Rodrigo and Chamara Prasanna Rodrigo.
